The New York Giants Steelers James Washington Jersey , who host the Seattle Seahawks at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, have some common ground.

The biggest similarity is that both teams have had issues on their respective offensive lines.

In the case of the Seahawks, they have fielded two different combinations this season. The constants have been left tackle Rees Odhiambo, left guard Luke Joekel, center Justin Britt and right tackle Germain Ifredi.

At right guard, Mark Glowinski started the first two games but struggled and was benched in favor of Oday Aboushi, who has played there for the last three games.

This week, with Joeckel recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery, the Seahwks are looking at their third different offensive line combination.

“Yeah Authentic Dylan Larkin Jersey , it’s really difficult because it’s the area of the game that needs to be so connected and that means the chemistry and the communications and the ability to talk to one another, identify in similar fashions so that you can play this game, is really a challenge,” said Seahawks coach Pete Carroll via a conference call with Giants reporters Wednesday.

“We have been very young for the last couple years and that keeps you in the transition mode because you’re not able to bank on the chemistry and that background and the resources that you need to really communicate like you need to be a really high functioning team. It’s a process and we’re in progress making it that way.”

The struggles for the Seahawks on the offensive line have been particularly noticeable in run blocking. The Seahawks have rushed for more than 100 yards only twice this season, in Weeks 2 and 4.

While losing running back Chris Carson has been a big part of Seattle’s struggles, the run blocking as a whole just hasn’t been consistent.

“We’re making progress, but it’s the process that we’re going through to just get tight and get clean and get sharp,” Carroll said. “A couple weeks ago, we ran for 194 yards and then the next week we ran for 60. So we’re not as consistent as we need to be.

“The (teams) we’re playing have something to say about that Browns Randall Telfer Jersey , but we have to do a better job, we’ve got to be on the mark, we’ve just got to be more precise about what we’re doing and that just comes with time.”

The Giants’ offensive line situation has been a lot worse. New York has trotted out five different offensive line combinations since Week 1 largely because of injuries to right tackle Bobby Hart and center Weston Richburg.

But unlike the Seahawks, the Giants might have found an offensive line combination in left tackle Ereck Flowers, left guard John Jerry, center Brett Jones, right guard D.J. Fluker and right tackle Justin Pugh that they can hang their hats on.

With Jones in the lineup, the Giants, who have also replaced struggling running back Paul Perkins with the tandem of Orleans Darkwa and rookie Wayne Gallman Bills Tremaine Edmunds Jersey , have rushed for 300 yards on 57 carries in their last two games, making this the first time they’ve rushed for more than 100 yards in consecutive regular-season games since the final three games of last year, when they ran for 114 yards (twice) and 161 yards in winning efforts.

“Brett has done well,” Giants offensive line coach Mike Solari said last week. “Brett is a hard worker. He’s always prepared. He’s always working hard and did a nice job with learning the offensive technique and the fundamentals.

“Critical for the center. He’s the kind of leader of the offensive line, making the calls because calls come from inside out and he did a good job. Doing a great job. He’s improved every day.”

Another key for the Giants has been the willingness of Pugh, their starting left guard in Week 1, to move back and forth between guard and tackle this season.

“He’s a pro. I mean, ‘Whatever you want me to do to win,'” Solari said. “And I’m trying to say not only is Justin http://www.jacksonvillejaguarsteamonline.com/logan-cooke-jersey , but all the men making moves and making adjustments and trying to get the best vibe on the football fields they’re competing and to get better. The nice thing is, is they’re competing and it’s good. It’s what you want. It’s what makes us better.”

Giants coach Ben McAdoo said last week that he liked what he saw of the latest offensive line combination. Although he wouldn’t come right out and confirm that he’ll be sticking with it this week, that’s the assumption given that Richburg is still in the league’s concussion protocol.

Where the Giants’ offensive line can improve is in pass protection. Although New York only attempted 19 passes last week, quarterback Eli Manning was sacked three times despite deploying that quick-release passing game in which he’s not holding onto the ball for long.

If they can stay with one combination, that would be a step in the right direction.

“It’s been challenging with the offensive line,” Solari said of the musical chairs. “They’re working hard and next man up mentality. And, again, just the changing of the different positions is an adjustment we’re making. We’re getting better.”

ORLANDO Wholesale Harold Landry Jersey , Fla. (AP) The NFL’s new rule outlawing a player from lowering his head to initially make any sort of hit with his helmet likely will be included in replay reviews for officials.

That has not been decided yet, but Commissioner Roger Goodell and competition committee chairman Rich McKay made it clear Wednesday that video reviews probably will be part of the process.

”If we’re able to have replay confirm one of these fouls and also confirms a player be ejected,” Goodell said as the league meetings concluded, ”I think there is more confidence among the coaches it will be called accurately.”
Article continues below ...
After noting the unanimous approval of the new rule among coaches, Goodell said on-field officials felt the same way.

”We think that is appropriate to do and it would be the first time we use replay for safety or in respect to any kind of foul,” Goodell added.

Late Tuesday, the owners rewrote the rule on using the helmet, making it a 15-yard penalty for any player to lower his head to initiate any hit with the helmet. McKay called it ”a significant change Trenton Cannon Jersey Elite ,” noting that it was a ”technique too dangerous for the player doing it and the player being hit.”

While the offender could be disqualified, owners did not call for an automatic ejection on such a play – at least not yet. In college football, when a player is penalized for targeting and a replay review affirms it, he is ejected.

Including replay will be discussed and very possibly implemented at the NFL’s May meetings in Atlanta, where another full agenda will include discussions of changes to the league’s national anthem policy; the potential sale of the Carolina Panthers; and awarding the 2019 and 2020 drafts to two of the five finalist cities.

Before then, Goodell stressed that the workings of the new helmet use rule will be made clear to the players, and there will be further discussions on the standards to go from disqualifying a player to fines and possibly suspensions.

”Our intent is to go to each team with tape and all the analysis work done (by the football operations, technology and medical staffs) and be able to present it to them Josh Sitton Super Bowl LI Jersey ,” Goodell said, adding it will be ”all hands on deck” in the educational process.

”We can take the head out, and we do want to make sure certain techniques are not used in our game. I am confident in the next few months (players) will understand it.”

Like the coaches, the owners were emphatically behind the change.

”We’ve done so much research and investigation on what creates the real concussive plays in the NFL,” Eagles owner Jeff Lurie said, ”and it became obvious that so many of the plays are through the lowering of the helmet and using the helmet as a weapon. I thought this (rule) was very important.”

Asked about the Rooney Rule and criticism of the Raiders in how they hired Jon Gruden as coach, Goodell said the league will look at it ”and see if we can improve it, absolutely.” Oakland was found to have not violated the rule that requires minority candidates to be interviewed for head coaching and executive positions.

Also:

-Goodell said any findings in the investigation of the behavior of Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson will be made public once the probe is concluded. There is no timetable for that.

Richardson has been accused of workplace misconduct and in December said he was selling the team.

The league hopes a buyer can be found in the next few weeks Nathan Shepherd Jersey Elite , vetted and then presented for approval at the May meetings.

-While there were discussions in Orlando about the NFL’s national anthem policy, Goodell said the focus was more on implementing social justice platforms in tandem with the players. Potential changes to that policy could come in May.

-Owners passed two more rules changes.

Most noteworthy, the league eliminated the requirement that a team that scores a winning touchdown at the end of regulation kick the extra point or go for a 2-point conversion.

In a January playoff game that Minnesota memorably won on a final pass play, New Orleans players were required to return to the field after leaving for a meaningless extra point. The Vikings took a knee.

Of course, bettors and fantasy players could have a stake in the PAT, but neither participating team did, particularly now that points scored or points differential is so low in any tiebreaking procedures.

The owners also approved closing an overtime loophole that could have been embarrassing had it ever occurred.

Now, if the team that gets the ball first scores a field goal Authentic Nate Solder Jersey , then the opponent loses possession by an interception or fumble on its first series, the down will be permitted to run to its conclusion, including awarding points scored by either team during the down.

Previously, the turnover ended the game regardless – even though the team getting the takeaway conceivably could itself turn over the ball on that play and see it returned for a score by the opponent.

Got it?

CHARLOTTE Authentic Clive Walford Jersey , N.C. (AP) Coach Ron Rivera said the Panthers traded No. 1 receiver Kelvin Benjamin so they could get younger, faster players on the field.

Rivera said Wednesday that starting receivers Benjamin and Devin Funchess had ”similar skill sets,” and the Panthers wanted players who are vertical threats in the game because ”we haven’t stretched the field this year.”

Benjamin and Funchess are both considered tall possession receivers, but aren’t incredibly fast.
Article continues below ...
Rivera wouldn’t say who would start alongside Funchess on Sunday against the Falcons, but he’s expecting rookie Curtis Samuel and Russell Shepard and Kaelin Clay will see more playing time. Carolina also re-signed free agent wide receiver Brenton Bersin on Wednesday.

”When you have some vertical speed it gets (defenses) to back off a little bit,” Rivera said. ”We saw a lot of single safety with the other safety in the box. And we had to do something to help alleviate the pressure on the offense to run the ball.”

The Panthers traded the 26-year-old Benjamin Wholesale Denzel Ward Jersey , a former first-round draft pick in 2014, to Buffalo on Tuesday in exchange for a third- and seventh-round draft pick in 2018. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Benjamin set rookie records for receptions, yards receiving and touchdowns and developed a close relationship with quarterback Cam Newton.

Newton said Wednesday that he didn’t find out about the trade until after it was announced.

”Obviously there is an emotional connection there, but that can’t be a distraction,” Newton said.

When asked if he was upset by the move Leighton Vander Esch Jersey Elite , Newton said ”it’s a business. It is what it is.”

It may be business, but the Panthers may be better off without Benjamin.

Newton turned in his best season in 2015 after Benjamin tore his ACL in training camp and missed the entire season. He threw for 3.509 yards and a career-high 35 touchdowns – and ran for 10 scores, too – while leading the Panthers to the Super Bowl and earning league MVP honors.

With Benjamin out of the lineup, Newton was forced to spread the ball around and did so effectively throughout the season despite having no big-name receivers other than tight end Greg Olsen.

This year Newton’s completion percentage is at an all-time high, but he’s struggled finding anything open down the field and has more interceptions (11) than touchdown passes (10) midway through the season.

Carolina is 21st in the league in total offense and 23rd in scoring. They were second in offense and first in scoring two years ago while going 17-2.

”As a unit, we’re going to be better from this because we all have faith in this whole process Authentic John Kelly Jersey ,” Newton said.

Benjamin has not spoken about the trade.

The Bills did not have media availability on Wednesday because they play Thursday night against the New York Jets.

Rivera said Benjamin is a terrific football player and was appreciative of what he had done for the Panthers organization.

”What this does for us is it gives us an opportunity to put some young guys on the field with some speed and give us an opportunity to move forward,” Rivera said. ”And it gives Kelvin an opportunity to start somewhere else as well.”

Shepard, who joined the Panthers after four seasons in Tampa Bay, said he was surprised by the trade – and he wasn’t the only one.

”It surprised everybody in this building,” Shepard said. ”It surprised some of the people on the coaching staff. It just shows you this is a business. Some decisions come from left field.”

Benjamin was leading the Panthers in yards receiving with 475 and third in receptions with 32.

Shepard said he’s ready to start if needed.

He was pressed into that role last season in Tampa Bay when Bucs receivers Vincent Jackson and Cecil Shorts tore ACLs.

”I have been in this situation quite a few times in my career,” Shepard said.

Samuel is a second-round pick from Ohio State who the Panthers have big plans for moving forward and could challenge for that starting job immediately.

Newton was melancholy throughout his news conference Barkevious Mingo Jersey Elite , but stressed it is time for the Panthers (5-3) to move on and focus on the rest of the season.

”At the end of the day, life goes on,” Newton said. ”I don’t think they are going to have a parade when I leave here. There is still going to be football on Sundays. … Everything moves forward.”

JACKSONVILLE Minkah Fitzpatrick Super Bowl LI Jersey , Fla. (AP) Malik Jackson was first to reach Indianapolis Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett on this play.

Brissett slipped out of Jackson’s diving arm tackle and scrambled right. Yannick Ngakoue was waiting, only to have Brissett spin away from him.

Next up was Calais Campbell, who didn’t miss. He rarely does.
Article continues below ...
Campbell’s early sack in Jacksonville’s 30-10 victory against the Indianapolis Colts gave him 12 + this season and broke the franchise’s single-season record . The previous mark (12) was set by Tony Brackens in 1999.

Campbell waved to the crowd as his achievement was recognized on the giant replay boards at EverBank Field.

”Anytime they show love, it’s always nice,” Campbell said. ”That’s a testament to the guys that are around me. We take turns making plays. Our secondary really did such a great job locking down receivers to give us time to get back there, so it’s an accolade for them really.”

Maybe so, but there’s no denying the impact Campbell has had in his first season with the Jaguars (8-4).

Campbell has been a role model in the locker room and a vocal leader on the field Authentic Derrick Nnadi Jersey , holding teammates more accountable and raising the play of everyone around him.

”It’s awesome to watch,” Jackson said. ”I’m wondering what took him so long. He’s been working so hard and just to be a part of that and see it for myself in person is a blessing, because that man works so hard. I’m so happy he got it, and I wouldn’t want anyone else to get that accolade or be in the spotlight than him because he’s a great guy.”

The Jaguars have a league-leading 45 sacks, with Campbell leading the way. Ngakoue has 10. Dante Fowler has 6 +. And Jackson has six.

”At the end of the day, I couldn’t care less about it right now,” Campbell said. ”Down the road Wholesale Jonathan Cooper Jersey , it will be great. But I’m jumping at the win and going forward.”

The Jaguars reached eight wins for the first time since 2010 and stayed in the thick of the AFC postseason picture.

Here are some other things we learned from Jacksonville’s first series sweep against the Colts since they joined the AFC South in 2002:

MOVING UP: Frank Gore is in the top five on the NFL’s career rushing list . The 34-year-old Gore ran 13 times for 61 yards, passing Jerome Bettis (13,662) for sixth in the second quarter and topping LaDainian Tomlinson (13,684) for fifth in the third. Gore now has 13,697 yards rushing in 13 NFL seasons, the first 10 with San Francisco and the past three with the Colts. He is 404 yards behind Curtis Martin for fourth.

”When I look back at my career coming out of college, all the ups and downs I had in college Adidas Jonathan Toews Jersey , I got here and there were a lot of doubters (who thought) I wouldn’t be here long,” Gore said. ”But I’m still here, still competing. My name is getting mentioned with a lot of great guys, so it’s a blessing.”

TOUGH SLEDDING: Indianapolis (3-9) lost its third straight and sixth in the past seven games, and was eliminated from the division race.

”This is tough. You never want to get used to losing,” safety Darius Butler said. ”It sucks. It sucks, man. It’s as simple as that. We work our (butt) off all week and then to come out here and not follow our way Wholesale Jonathan Allen Jersey , we got roughed up today. We’ve got to find a way to draw a line in the sand and make things happen.”

TRICKY JAGS: The Jaguars might be the NFL’s best at faking punts . Facing fourth-and-7 near midfield in the first quarter, punter Brad Nortman found tight end James O’Shaughnessy wide open over the middle for a 29-yard gain. Blake Bortles hit Marqise Lee five plays later for Jacksonville’s seventh opening-possession score of the season. It was Jacksonville’s third fake punt of the season – all successful and all leading to touchdowns.

”To go out there and make an impactful play and get the offense rolling after that was really something special,” Nortman said.

HOOP DREAMS: Leonard Fournette’s first touchdown in six weeks came with a special celebration. After Fournette scored, he lined up in front of the goal post and shot a free throw over the crossbar with teammates standing on both sides of the makeshift lane. It was good.

”We have a ton of celebrations (planned),” Fournette said. ”We just have to get into the end zone more to celebrate them.”

Matchups for the Super Bowl between the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots:

When the Eagles (15-3) have the ball
Article continues below ...
The Patriots must be wary of a balanced offense that tore apart Minnesota Authentic Royce Freeman Jersey , which has a better overall defense than does New England. Forget about Nick Foles (9) being a backup quarterback; his postseason performances, particularly in the NFC title game, have been strong.

Foles will try to get TE Zach Ertz (86) involved early; he was unstoppable against the Vikings. Indeed, the Eagles have three tight ends they are comfortable going to, including Brent Celek (87) and Trey Burton (88). That places an onus on safeties Devin McCourty (32), as reliable as any player at that position in the league, and Patrick Chung (23).

Philadelphia’s wideouts supposedly were a weakness heading into the season. Not quite. Alshon Jeffery (17) is a clear No. 1 target with excellent hands and the ability to get open all over the field. That frees up vastly improved Nelson Agholor (13) and veteran Torrey Smith (82). They will challenge the Patriots’ solid cornerbacks, Malcolm Butler (21) and Stephon Gilmore (24).

New England’s defensive backs will need a bolstered pass rush, something the Patriots manufacture with a variety of players Rashaan Evans Super Bowl LI Jersey , from Trey Flowers (98) to Geneo Grissom (96) to Lawrence Guy (93) to rookie Adam Butler (70) to the rejuvenated LB James Harrison (92). Philly is most staunch at center with Jason Kelce (62) and right tackle with Lane Johnson (65), both All-Pros.

One thing the Eagles are sure to try to keep New England’s offense on the sideline is getting Jay Ajayi (36), former Patriot LeGarrette Blount (29) and rookie Corey Clement (30) some open space for runs. New England LB Kyle Van Noy (53) figures to have a busy day unless Philly falls behind.

When the Patriots (15-3) have the ball

Tom Brady (12) has won five Super Bowls, four times as game MVP. Never mind that he is 40, he’s playing as if he’s in his prime – hey, he might be – and will test Philadelphia’s versatile defense from the outset.

Oddly, while Brady led the NFL with 4,577 passing yards, no QB who paced the NFL in that category has won the Super Bowl in that season Authentic Frank Ragnow Jersey , going 0-5. Brady couldn’t do it, and the others were Peyton Manning, Rich Gannon, Kurt Warner and Dan Marino.

It’s essential that the Eagles get in Brady’s face throughout. That means DLs Fletcher Cox (91), the best defensive player in this postseason, Brandon Graham (55), rookie Derek Barnett (96) and former Patriot Chris Long (56) must apply pressure. That’s doable but not easy against an offensive line without any stars, but with plenty of skill. LT Nate Solder (77) and C David Andrews (60) are the key guys up front.

Philly must be alert not only for all of Brady’s targets – WRs Brandin Cooks (14), Danny Amendola (80) Authentic Rick Leonard Jersey , Chris Hogan (15), RBs James White (28) and Dion Lewis (33) – but for Lewis and White in the running game. Both are shifty and flexible and have Brady’s trust.

The Eagles’ secondary, often criticized for its inconsistency, has gotten very stingy in the playoffs. Of course, CBs Ronald Darby (41), Jalen Mills (31) and Patrick Robinson (21) haven’t faced this kind of offense.

Perhaps most critical among all matchups is whether All-Pro TE Rob Gronkowski (87) has recovered from a concussion. His confrontations with veteran S Malcolm Jenkins (27) could be telling.

Special Teams

Patriots K Stephen Gostkowski (3) rebounded from a rough 2016 to have a strong season. He made 37 out of 40 field goals in the regular season, going 4 for 4 on kicks of 50 or more yards. He is one of the league’s most clutch kickers and is third in career postseason points in NFL history.

Lewis is the only player in this game to have returned a kickoff for a touchdown this season. He ranked fourth in the NFL with 24.8 yards per return.

Amendola is also a threat on punt returns. He averaged 8.6 yards per return during the regular season, including a long of 40 yards, and had a big one against Jacksonville in the AFC title game.

Philadelphia’s Jake Elliott (4) set a postseason club record with a 53-yard field goal and has longer range than Gostkowski. But he is less reliable on extra points Adidas Jamie Benn Jersey , having missed four.

P Donnie Jones (8) ranked 17th in net average and Kenjon Barner (38) filled in nicely after Darren Sproles was injured. Barner’s best punt return went for 76 yards.

Coverage units are solid despite losing special-teams captain Chris Maragos.

Coaching

Philly was in attack mode from the outset against Minnesota, and that’s a good reflection on Doug Pederson and his staff. Pederson knows he can’t back off against New England, and defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz is known for being aggressive.

Not much has to be said about a New England staff that is 5-2 in Super Bowls. A twist, not unprecedented but interesting, has both coordinators, Matt Patricia on defense and Josh McDaniels on offense, bound for head coaching spots elsewhere. Don’t look for it to have any effect on this game.

Intangibles

The Eagles have never won a Super Bowl; their previous NFL title was in 1960. They have that extra edge that perennial underdogs – even in home playoff games as the No. 1 seed – would carry. Their confidence is soaring after they tore apart the stingiest scoring defense in the league for the conference championship.

BALTIMORE (AP) The Baltimore Ravens need one more win to get into the playoffs.

The Indianapolis Colts must play one more game before their painful season finally comes to an end.

Baltimore (9-6) remained on course to end its two-year postseason drought by defeating the Colts 23-16 Saturday. With a win over Cincinnati at home this Sunday Mike Remmers Jersey Elite , the Ravens will enter the playoffs as an AFC wild card.
Article continues below ...
”We’ll be itching to back out there on Sunday and to get that game under day,” quarterback Joe Flacco said. ”But we’ve got to continue to do our business the right way, continue to do what we’ve been doing, and I think we’ll be all right.”

What the Ravens have been doing is winning – sometimes impressively and, as was the case Saturday, sometimes ugly. Despite letting the lowly Colts hang in there right to the end, the Ravens pulled out a much-needed victory.

”Good teams find a way, especially in December Jonathan Allen Super Bowl LI Jersey ,” safety Eric Weddle said.

The Colts (3-12), on the other hand, are still looking for that elusive winning formula. After a blocked punt put Indianapolis in position to force overtime, the Colts frittered away their last chance.

”A lot of things haven’t gone our way this year,” safety Darius Butler said.

Indianapolis closed the season on Sunday at home against Houston.

—-

Some things we learned about the Colts and Ravens:

DROPSIES: The Ravens entered the game leading the NFL with 22 interceptions, thanks heavily to Weddle’s six picks.

He was in perfect position to snare No. 7 – and then he let Jacoby Brissett’s long heave go right through his hands.

”There is no excuse for that. That could be the difference in the game,” Weddle said. ”I don’t know if I deserve ice cream after that one.”

Although Baltimore has the best ball-hawking defense in the NFL, they didn’t get a single turnover Saturday. But that didn’t matter to the Ravens.

”We dropped two (but) as long as we get the win at the end of the day Mike White Jersey Elite , that’s all that matters,” linebacker C.J. Mosley said.

WINDS OF CHANGE: When Adam Vinatieri lined up to attempt a 60-yard field goal at the end of the first half, the Colts thought they had everything working in their favor.

Vinatieri had a gusty wind at his back and coach Chuck Pagano thought using the veteran kicker was a better bet than a Hail Mary pass.

Vinatieri placed the kick well, but he didn’t have quite enough leg. His try fell a little short of the crossbar, but was right in the middle.

”No hesitation throwing him out there for it,” Pagano said. ”He was just an eyelash away.”

It was a weird afternoon for Vinatieri, who made three field goals, including one that caromed off the right upright Wholesale Ryan Switzer Jersey , and had another blocked.

NEVER STOP WORKING: Although Mosley has been with Baltimore for only four years, he plays with the knowledge of a long-time veteran. He knows that some of his newer teammates have never tasted the postseason and wants to be sure they know what is at stake next week against Cincinnati.

”It’s crazy how many games you play in a season and it comes down to the last game,” Mosley said.

A year ago, Baltimore needed to win its last two games to get into the playoffs. The Ravens didn’t do their part, and Mosley has no interest in seeing history repeat itself.

”The guys from last year or two years ago, they haven’t been in a playoff game before,” Mosley said. ”It’s been a while. We have to make sure everybody is focused.”

FLAG DAY: The Colts were flagged for only two penalties for 19 yards, and the first call didn’t come until early in the fourth quarter.

But the two infractions Wholesale Bo Scarbrough Jersey , both by cornerback Nate Hairston, were instrumental in extending a key Ravens drive that culminated with a 4-yard touchdown pass from Flacco to tight end Maxx Williams for a 23-13 lead.

A holding call on Hairston on a third-and-9 Flacco pass that went for seven yards gave Baltimore a first down at the Indianapolis 39-yard line. Three plays later, Hairston was whistled for pass interference on a sideline pass to Michael Campanaro, a 14-yard penalty that put the ball at the Colts’ 23.

”I’m not sure what I did,” Hairston said, ”but it is what it is.”
